Been longing to settle a score by pelting
someone with snowballs? The Japanese sport of
Yukigassen, which made its Alberta debut two
years ago at Fort Edmonton Park, is basically an
organized snowball fight for adults. Teams of seven
lob snowballs – an arsenal of 90 per period – while
dodging an incoming barrage in hopes of capturing
the other team's flag. This year, the national
championships, dubbed the Canadian Rockies Snow
Battle, go down in Jasper November 23–24. The
winner advances to the world finals in Hokkaido,
Japan. jasper.travel/snowbattle –Tracy Hyatt
