If you do only one piece of bike
maintenance this spring, inspect
your brakes and replace the pads
if they look worn. Do it yourself
or take your bike to a shop. Have
a bit more time to spare? Check
your tire pressure and add air if
necessary. Spin each wheel look-
ing for wobbles or rubbing,
which might mean you need a
wheel alignment, or new tires.
en wipe your chain with
solvent and lubricate it with oil.
You should be doing this every
few months anyway – more
frequently if your bike often
gets dirty or wet.
AMA Bike Assist
If your wheels break down on
the road, not to worry: AMA
members have access to Bike
Assist, a.k.a. Roadside Assistance
for bikes. Have a flat? ey'll
pump it up on the spot. Loose
bolt or dropped chain? No
problem. For serious repairs,
they'll transport you and your
bike back home, or to a repair
shop. e service is available
Alberta-wide, wherever AMA
provides Roadside Assistance. W
