Our horizontal layout prompted some passionate responses! Some of you loved it; others not so much. What was consistent, however, was your fondness for the magazine and its content. I'm excited about trying new things, but based on some of the responses, I don't think we will be proceeding with the edible version of Westworld (kidding!). Speaking of change, I wanted to talk a little about how AMA can help you navigate two of life's biggest, and most potentially stressful, events: getting married and updating your home. I can speak to both of these from my own experience. Let's start with the easy one. I managed the stress of my own wedding planning years ago in large part because my talented wife, Diane, handled most of the details. at always helps to keep my stress level down. rough all of the planning, she worked hard to make sure we were getting the best prices to keep us on budget. Or at least close to it. As for the home, we undertook a fairly sizable reno project a few years back. Now that was stressful. Not only was it an unfamiliar kind of project to manage, but the impact on our family was significant, with much upheaval and disarray for many very – very – long months. A renovation is the kind of experience about which, in hindsight, you wish you'd gotten some sage advice before you began. at's where AMA can help. You already know that everything we do is about having your back and helping to protect you and the things that matter to you. We've worked hard to bring on new AMARewards partners to save you money on weddings and home makeovers, and we've reached out to experts for advice on navigating these big life events – or undertaking them on a smaller scale with big impact. If you're planning either this year, I wish you much luck and success, and I hope you find the tips we've researched for this issue helpful. I sure wish I'd had them. One other really fun thing I wanted to draw your attention to in this issue is a story about one of our members. Nelson Sturge from Fort McMurray reached out to us on Facebook to share photos of a cool garage getaway that he built for himself. You have to see it to believe it (p. 50). I wish I had before finishing up my own home renovation! And finally, February 16 is Family Day here in Alberta. It's a special day for AMA because when we think about our family, we think about all of you. May you have a chance to enjoy the day with the people you care about most. Going Through it Together A message from AMA's president Don Smitten President and CEO
