B.C.: WINTER
TIRES REQUIRED
On B.C. mountain passes, and in
some interior areas, winter tires
are mandatory between Oct. 1 and
March 31. You'll see signs to that
effect wherever the rule applies.
Tires stamped with the mountain-
and-snowflake symbol, and mud-
and-snow tires (marked "M+S"),
are acceptable, as long as they're
in good condition, with unworn
treads. If you're caught driving in a
signed area without proper tires,
the police may turn you around, or
slap you with a fine.
