That's why one after-market add- on has become almost as essential to Albertan car owners as the remote starter: paint protection film. This near-invisible urethane layer, applied at a detailing shop, protects a vehi- cle's paint from scratches, chips and stains. "It's still in its infancy elsewhere, but Alberta has the most installations, per capita, in north america," says Steven Hagopian, owner of Calgary's Stripe tech truck & auto accesso- ries. "Because we have the most potential sources of damage, it's becoming a must-have." Consider getting it done before the weather turns cold and the gravel trucks make an appearance. Any painted area of a vehicle can be covered – a "full front" package will typically include the hood, fenders, mirrors, bumpers, grill and headlights. Other ways to extend the life of your vehicle's paint? Wash every week or two with a soft cloth and a mild cleanser. Avoid automatic car- washes, which tend to use harsh chemicals that can cause dulling, says Hagopian. A couple times per year, give baby a bit more love with a clay bar, a deep-cleaning substance that removes stubborn gunk. Use a polish- ing compound to buff out scratches and finish up with a wax. Then step back and bask in the sparkle. Save 5% and earn 5% in reward dollars at Stripe Tech. AMARewards.ca/ StripeTech
